“The most certain way to succeed is to try just one more time.” Thomas Edison
Staying motivated can be difficult when you feel like you are not moving forward. When the life you want shimmers like an unattainable mirage on the horizon, maybe it’s time to stop, take a deep breath, and reassess your next move.
Take 100% Responsibility
There is only one person responsible for the life you want and that is you. Everything you have or don’t have is 100% your responsibility. We often look at external factors as being the reason we are not happy, or why we don’t have the life we want. The truth is, you are in complete control of your quality of life. Successful people take responsibility for their position in life, they visualise what they want, and take action. They don’t spend time blaming or complaining.
Give Yourself Permission
Envisage where you want to be and give yourself permission to have what you truly want. The mind is a powerful instrument. It can deliver everything you desire, if you have confidence in your talents and abilities. If you listen to that voice in your head that says you can’t do it, or you’re not good enough, you never will be. You’ve got two choices, you can stay where you are, or you can ignore that voice and create the life you want.
Be Willing To Change
You have to be willing to change if you want a different outcome in life. You might need to put in more money, more time, or more effort. If you want to write a novel, but you have never written a short story, you may need to study and learn new skills. If you are someone who likes to stay in their comfort zone, you need to ask yourself, ‘How is it working out for me?’
Be Sure About What You Want
One of the reasons you might feel like you are getting nowhere, is because you haven’t decided what you want. Maybe it’s a new job, moving to a new town or finishing a creative project. Not everyone wants the same things in life. Whatever you decide, your subconscious creative mind will start putting the wheels in motion to make it a reality. If you are not sure what you want, write down five things that come to mind, and think about them over the coming week.
Create Goals
Writing down what you want to achieve is the simplest and most effective way to turn your ideas into reality. Don’t be afraid of dreaming big, but you also need to be realistic and consider the steps you will need to take to get there.
Make A Plan
Coming up with your goals is the fun part. Making a plan on how you will reach them is when the work begins. The goal is the destination. The plan is the roadmap to get there. For each of your goals create a list of the steps you will need to take. Making it as detailed as possible will help you measure your progress along the way.
Work At It
Work on your goals and plan every day. If you think it is too hard, then change your plan. Instead of five goals choose just one or two. Getting what you want in life won’t miraculously happen. You still need to work hard and be willing to put the effort in to get what you want.
